BIG NARSTIE
Hailing from South London’s Brixton BIG NARSTIE started his career in 2004 as a member of the infamous N DOUBLE A crew which includes L.MAN and SOLO among others. He established himself as South London’s biggest MC (no pun intended) and in 2006 he joined the independent urban label DICE Recordings, which is where he really started to make his mark in the underground GRIME scene. With tracks like the Coldplay sampled “SPUN A WEB” the underground HIT which featured SHYSTIE, SOLO, LMAN and DEMON and was the main song off of his mix cd “WHATS THE STORY BRIXTON GLORY” one of the first GRIME/INDIE mix cds and was supported by the likes of JEZ WELHAM (KISS FM) WESTWOOD (RADIO 1) DJ CAMEO (1xtra) and HOTSTEPPA (CHOICE FM) he started to get the recognition that his obvious talent deserved.
His track entitled “BRUSHMAN” which featured his fellow N Double A member SOLO received the accolade of being RWD Mags “Song of the year”, he then became a much requested feature appearing on PROFESSOR GREEN’S “BEFORE I DIE Remix” which also featured EXAMPLE, PLAN-B, and GHETTS as well as possibly his biggest and most popular collaboration to date with NDUBZ on the track entitled NDUBZ vs N.A.A from their debut album “UNCLE B” the video has currently received over 2.5million views.
In that time he released three other mixtapes “MIND OF A FAT GUY”, “DRUGS AND CHICKEN” and “I’M BETTA THAN U” with guest appearances from GIGGS, SCORCHER and WRETCH 32 and he also featured as one of the main characters in the Channel 4 sitcom “DUBPLATE DRAMA” alongside NDUBZ and SHYSTIE . As well as gracing the Silver screen, BIG NARSTIE has also has had a guest appearance in the urban films “Annuvahood” and a starring role in “London State of Mind”. His Warm up Session freestyles on Sbtv received over 100,000 views each in the first 5 days and helped towards the success of his 1st mix cd of the year entitled “PAIN OVERLOAD” which was released in February 2012 and made serious waves in the underground scene. His next mix cd “PAIN IS LOVE” was released swiftly on the 28/07/12 for free download on SBTV and had over 100,000 free downloads in 72 hours, his first official E.P the #PAIN EP was released on the 14/10/12 and entered at NO 5 in the ITunes UK Hip Hop chart; And to top off the ground breaking year he had, he won the 2012 Urban Music Award (UMAs) for Best Grime Act beating artists like SKEPTA, LETHAL B and DOT ROTTEN in the process.
Big Narstie released his second EP Don’t Fuck Up The Base. The EP Big Narstie was the highest selling grime EP of 2013. He also had a Don’t Fuck up the Base EP launch party,[9] which featured music artists, Flirta D, Mic Righteous, Scrufizzer, Kozzie and DJ's, DJ Cameo, Charlie Sloth, DJ Logan Sama.
He performed at a number of festivals across Europe including The Wireless Festival,A Day In Dam with English Frank and Black The Ripper, the Hip Hop Kemp Festival in Czech Republic and The Outlook Festival in Croatia. He also won UMA 2013 Best Grime Act award for the second year in a row. At the end of 2013 he released an EP Hello Hi. with True Tiger. Noisey named Big Narstie as their name of 2013.
Big Narstie released What's The Story Brixton Glory Part II, where he covered various Britpop classics by artists such as Oasis. He has a tour called Base Defence League (BDL) that is around the UK in March which has a host of music artists supporting him.
